SPINDRIFT GALLERY HISTORY

Spindrift Gallery opened in 2003. Gallery owner Craig Gilliland created Spindrift as a venue to exhibit his own work and the work of local artists he admired. His curatorial vision led him to select work which not only met high artistic standards but also enhanced the overall viewing experience. He strongly believes that good artwork deserves its own visual space.

Spindrift’s original location was a single room in Gualala’s Cypress Village. In 2007, it moved to a larger gallery to accommodate Spindrift’s expanding vision to seek talented artists from outside the immediate local area. Spindrift Gallery now represents twenty one exceptional artists from Northern California, Oregon, Nevada, and Florida and has become a respected regional venue for abstract and figurative art in addition to coastal impressions.

In addition to its other exhibits and activities, Spindrift Gallery has partnered with the Mendocino Art Center to exhibit fine art from Japan as well as ”The Best of the Mendocino Art Center”, and is establishing strong ties with the Sebastopol Art Center through its Art at the Source and Art Trails events.

In the future, we hope to continue and expand our commitment to excellence in the art exhibited at Spindrift Gallery. Our vision extends to imagining and creating more invitational and juried exhibits as well as
developing new art education opportunities.
